Since the building of the original Saskatchewan Hospital more than a century ago, perceptions and treatment of mental illness have undergone radical transformation. The current facility is long past its prime. The infrastructure is worn out, and the building falls terribly short of meeting the needs of patients. Fortunately, construction on the new building has begun and will be completed in 2018.
The new hospital will be the cornerstone of mental health services for the entire province. The building and its grounds will reflect inspiring and heartwarming care built on empathy, empowerment and hope.
