Canadian Roots Exchange

Research & Study

Canadian Roots Exchange believes in a Canada where youth stand in solidarity to promote respect, understanding and reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, and that youth are at the heart of redefining relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples on this land.

In 2008, a group of students founded Canadian Roots Exchange. Since then, over 4,000 Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth from across the country have been part of the organization’s unique programming. What started as a week-long exchange turned into nationally recognized reconciliation programming for young people.

CRE’s primary objective is to bridge the divide between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth, ages 12 to 29 years old, through impactful leadership programs that facilitate dialogue and strengthen relationships. Programming is operated across Canada in order to break down stereotypes, open dialogue and build honest relationships with people on this land.
